Business Development Manager

The Business Development Manager is a key role in continuing and accelerating the future success of Evolution Power Tools through identifying potential customers and markets, increasing sales and profitability in line with business targets and objectives. The jobholder will represent Evolution and demonstrate a passion for our products at a senior level across various UK Industrial Steel markets.


Main Duties & Tasks

  • Utilise market knowledge and personal network as well as market analysis to identify and qualify new business opportunities.
  • Generate and develop new customer accounts to increase revenue, by cold-calling if necessary.
  • Provide customer support by responding to customer inquiries and requests.
  • Maintain a clear and detailed understanding of live orders, ensure that customers are kept informed of progress and that any issues or difficulties are communicated in a timely and appropriate way.
  • Partner with current customers to ascertain current needs and generate additional sales.
  • Undertake analysis and support company research to better understand the markets we operate in as well as monitor and present competitor activity.
  • Routine travel to visit new and existing customers and attend relevant trade shows.
  • Perform presentations or demonstrations of company product(s)/service(s) while on-site.
  • Always maintain professionalism, tact, diplomacy, and sensitivity to portray the company in a positive manner.
  • Actively manage own schedule to adequately cover assigned accounts in a time efficient manner.


Skills, Experience and Competencies

  • Direct sales, channel sales and account management experience.
  • Knowledge of Industrial / Steel products and channels of distribution is a necessity.
    • Industry Experience of selling to: OEM’s, Distributors, Construction, Automotive, Maritime Industries and Welding Merchants etc. would be advantageous.  
  • Confident in the use of Microsoft office.
  • Experience of online accounting and order processing systems.
  • Full driving licence and willing to travel.

Location / Department

The role is office based with the potential to work from home and will require travel around UK.
